Procurement Manager

The Procurement Manager is responsible for facilitating and driving the strategic procurement initiatives within Zogenix.  This role interacts with all levels of employees including senior management, legal counsel, finance team, project owners, administrative staff and external suppliers. Attention to detail, prompt service and exemplary communication skills are critical attributes to successful execution of duties. This hands-on, customer-focused role requires an understanding of the Company’s goals and objectives, to prioritize deliverables and effectively manage workload. Data reporting, user training, and insightful vendor gap analysis are also key responsibilities required for the role. As a key team member, the ability to understand Procurement industry best practices and help Zogenix develop a world class P2P process is a priority. Understanding Procurement processes end to end and strong experience in developing and managing policies, procedures, and technologies will be crucial.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with global organization to drive measurable improvements in P2P process
  • Conduct key competitive RFPs for Indirect goods and services using Zogenix eSourcing platform
  • Reviews requisitions and attachments for quality, accuracy, pricing effectiveness, and contractual obligations.
  • Manage key categories over time to ensure vendor performance and cost savings
  • Train end users on Procurement Policy, Contract procedure, and P2P technology
  • Perform ongoing Coupa and BI data/spend analysis to build preferred supplier base
  • Execute Contracts for Consulting, Clinical, and Outsourced Manufacturing Services
  • Reviews key Legal Contracts, SOWs, quotes, proposals, and other purchasing documents to ensure cost, quality, delivery outcomes are favorable.
  • Leads the development and implementation of end user Procurement training
  • Build and continuously update/maintain local market strategies
  • Be a driving force in managing vendor strategies based on data analytics and spend analysis
  • Negotiate/re-negotiate national and local Contracts for complex goods and services
  • Partner with Legal team to review Legal and Commercial terms contract management strategies
  • Identify and qualify preferred goods and services suppliers for key categories
  • Conduct ongoing Procurement training for stakeholders, management and vendors
  • Drive measurable cost savings metrics and deliver to Finance on a regular basis
  • Works with Finance, AP, Legal, and Compliance departments to streamline Procurement processes.
  • Manage supplier performance risks on a timely basis to stakeholder satisfaction
  • Review Finance budgets and partner with stakeholders to ensure compliance
  • Provide stakeholder support on Coupa, R2P, RFP, RFI, and vendor recommendations
  • Review new vendor requests from a strategic category perspective
  • Analyze PO spend relating to key vendors to build preferred Master Agreements
  • Solid familiarity with ERP systems such as Coupa, SAP, Oracle, Ariba, etc.
  • Drives process and technical improvements of procurement process overall
  • Supports various procurement and ad hoc projects and analysis
  • Provides superior levels of customer service and satisfaction while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity

REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Familiar with P2P systems (Ariba, SAP, Coupa, Oracle, etc.)
  • 5-6+ years of experience in a procurement function that in a cGMP compliant environment
  • 2 years’ Procurement experience required within R&D, Pharma, Clinical, Lab.
  • Prior management experience preferred
  • Experience with outsourced manufacturing/distributed third-party operations environment
  • General understanding of general ledger and month-end/year-end close process
  • Experience with supporting audit inquiries
  • General understanding of cGMPs

TRAVEL, PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly required to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine)
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time
  • Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and occasionally stand and walk
