Talent Advisor

The Talent Advisor will play a critical role in executing the recruiting strategy for Zogenix. In this position, you will partner with business leaders, hiring managers and other HR colleagues to engage and recruit top talent. You will manage a portfolio of openings, focusing on exceeding the expectations of internal clients while ensuring a positive candidate experience. You will apply strong technical expertise including strategic sourcing, candidate and client management, data analysis, and project management in implementing solutions to find and recruit top talent.


  • Hiring Manager Influencer – Clearly communicates labor market reality, demonstrates a deep understanding of organizational strategy, and addresses hiring manager assumptions
  • Full cycle recruiting (requisition intake to employee on-boarding) for all positions
  • Company Specific Business Acumen – Knowledge of the company’s business model, operations, financial goals, and competitive position
  • Companywide Talent Strategy Knowledge – support the head of the Talent Team in building an understanding of the talent needs required to execute current and future business strategy and what other HR sub-functions are doing to support this
  • Labor Market Expertise – assist in driving continuous efforts to map the organization’s position in the labor market, including employment brand perception, the supply-and-demand picture, and what competitors are doing and how they are perceived
  • Pipeline Management – Ability to build and maintain a pipeline of high-quality and engaged prospective candidates
  • Process Optimization – Knowledge of where inefficiencies and bottlenecks are in the recruiting process and how to remove, circumnavigate, or raise awareness of them
  • Data Judgement – Applying judgment to data to support decisions and recommend practical action steps
  • Candidate Career Coach – Prompts candidates to think about their careers and, guides them in assessing their fit for, and interest in, the opportunities the organization has to offer
  • Vendor Management – Actively manage recruiting efforts for temporary roles in support of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

Core Competencies, Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • A good understanding of compensation & equity guidelines, legal implications in hiring, and relocation and immigration
  • Solid knowledge of LinkedIn Recruiter and other sourcing tools
  • Familiarity working with applicant tracking systems
  • PC literacy required; MSOffice skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated success in prioritizing/customizing service levels within requisition portfolio
  • Outstanding client service, problem solving & project management skills
  • Good influencing & negotiation skills
  • Proven success in a rapidly changing, fluid, innovative culture
  • Initiative, self-starter, driven, stimulated by challenges, a good balance of strategy & pragmatism

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Life Science or equivalent work experience


  • 5+ years of biotech, pharmaceutical or healthcare sourcing, recruiting/search experience with a variety of levels
  • Experience in social media direct sourcing
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding quantitative and qualitative goals
